Game Summary: The Warriors ended their season 2 and 8 as they fell to rival Pittston, 40-18 on Friday night. The night belonged to Pittston Area's Chris Price who ran for 202 yards and two touchdowns and was named the MVP of the game.
The game started out as a defensive struggle as there was no score after the first quarter. With the Warriors keying on price, the Patriot's Mike Capone busted loose up the middle to score the first touchdonw on a 47 yard run. Pittston Area then came up with a key interception and a Price touchdown made it 13-0. The Warriors answered back with a 56 yard run by freshman Nick O'Brien. Leo Malsky also picked up some tough running yardage in the first half. However, the Warrior defense was not up to the challenge as the Patriots QB Emmett, hit some key passes before the end of the first half. The Patriots had a 19- lead going into the locker room.
The Warriors' first drive in the second half resulted in a touchdown by O'Brien. Runs by O'Brien and Murphy keyed the drive and the Warriors trailed by a score of 19-13 in the third. On the next Patriot possession, Chris Murphy intercepted a pass that gave the Warriors the ball on their own 44 yard line. Two plays later, Leo Malsky took an option pitch 46 yards into the end zone for an apparent touchdown and an opportunity to take the lead. However, the play was called back on an illegal block in the back. That play deflated to Warriors hopes, and they never really could get back in the game.
Chris Price took control of the third and fourth quarters, as the Warriors defense ran out of gas. The game ended with a 95 yard interception return by Pittston Area's Stankowski. It was a painful end to a painful 2-8 season.
