Game Summary: The Warriors opened their 2009 season with a convincing win at Nanticoke on Friday night. QB Chris Murphy started the scoring off at 7:49 of the first quarter, by taking it in on a keeper around the left side. Leo Malsky took over late in the first quarter ripping off long runs and was on the receiving end of several slant passes over the middle. Malsky scored twice in the 1st half, before being sidelined with cramps. Ahmad Bouie came up with a nice interception near the end of the first half, and freshman Nick O'Brien ran it in to give the Warriors a 28-0 halftime lead. Murphy connected with Sam Eramo in the third quarter on a 74-yard touchdown pass, and a long run by AJ Lemardy topped off the scoring for the Warriors.

Although the Warriors dominated on both sides of the ball tonight, the team committed an unusual amount of penalties: 12 penalties for 80 yards. In particular, personal fouls and motion penalties seem to occur on every other play in the first half. The Warriors were able to get away with this kind of sloppy play against a weak team, however, this will be a problem as the competition gets tougher (next week).

All in all--a very good night for the Warriors. Murphy went 12 for 17 and passed for 238 yards. Sam Eramo caught 7 passes for 137 yards, and Leo Malsky showed his versatility in the first half by gaining large chunks of yardage running and receiving. The running game was adequate with 240 yards on the ground--most being accumulated on long runs. The defense was solid as they gave up no passing yards, and Nanticoke scored in the final seconds of the game. This coming Friday when the Warriors travel to Valley View will be their first real test
