Game Summary: The Warriors dominated from the opening kickoff as the starters only played the first half of the game vs. Holy Redeemer. The score at halftime was 46-14. Eric Eramo caught two TD passes from Chris Murphy, Kody Nowicki ran a punt back for a TD and caught a TD pass, and Nick O'Brien had two rushing touchdowns, threw a TD pass and ran a kickoff back 84 yards. Corey Popovich had three rushes for 67 yards and a TD. The Warriors cleared the bench in the third and fourth quarters as everyone saw playing time. Jordan Zezza had a nice interception in the fourth quarter.
Holy Redeemer's Anh Le was as good as advertised. With little in the way of a running game, he showed that he is an extremely talented quarterback. Le threw for 183 yards and rushed for an additional 34 yards. He also was in on numerous tackles. Louis Degnan had a nice game receiving with six receptions for 56 yards. The Redeemer defense stiffened in the second half and allowed only a Nick O'Brien kickoff return to start the third quarter.
After the game, Coach Spencer stated "This is a game where we wanted to come in and definitely focus on our execution..." The Warriors seemed to accomplish that mission, as the team pretty much had their way on offense and defense in the first half. The starters had no turnovers, limited penalties, stuffed the run, and had some nice pass plays. The team should feel good about itself going into the big game next week with GAR. |
